Montreal vs Toronto

Montreal, Canada

Toronto, Canada

In this article Mia Shabsove, the writer, talks about how different are Toronto and Montreal. She is from Toronto but she wanted to explore something new so she decided to go to Montreal.
She gives 20 different thing between both cities, she talks about the fact that in Montreal they have different names for a lot of things, like subway, they call it metro; Montreal is a city inside Quebec, therefore they speak French while in Toronto the main language is English; they can drink at 18 years old, while in Toronto they can drink since 19 and older; she says she could walk fro one side of Montreal to the other in less than an hour, something that is impossible to do in Toronto because is a big city; Montreal is more cold than Toronto; Montreal is also less expensive than Toronto, and she gives more differences.

In  my opinion. YES, TOTALLY YES. Montreal and Toronto are totally different even if both cities are in the same country. Montreal is more like Paris, it has a lot of influence of the British and the French (but more from the French), it has some tall buildings but just in downtown, the rest of it is covered of small buildings and houses. While Toronto is more a city with huge and tall buildings.

I see it like this: Toronto is more like a city and Montreal is a city/town. Toronto is more developed, has more diversity in people, more stores, jobs, hotels (as buildings) while Montreal even that they have a lot of diverse people is not so much as in Toronto, the people is not so kind as they are in Toronto, they sometimes get mad if somebody talks to them in English. Toronto has more places to visit, is more touristic than Montreal.

Montreal is also more cold. When I visited it one summer it was like 10°C, it was always raining with cold breeze, and then when I traveled to Toronto it was like 16°C, always sunny but with cold breeze. But some weeks later the breeze started to get warmer.

And also, last but no least, yes, Montreal is cheaper than Toronto. I have the feeling is because Montreal is not a main city like is Toronto, in fact, Montreal is the third city of Canada behind Vancouver which is the second one. And it is a good thing for the people living there (comparing it with Toronto) because having Montreal as the third city it makes it cheaper. Also I think is also because is not so developed as Toronto, as I said before, Montreal is more like a city/town.
